Downtown Books & Brews Book Club Meetup

Zandbroz Variety and Front Street Taproom are teaming up to bring you the coolest downtown Fargo book club you’ll ever encounter – Downtown Books & Brews. After all, books make you smarter and beer makes you cooler. Or, at least that’s what we like to tell ourselves. Join us on the mezzanine of Front Street on the last Thursday of every month at 7pm to discuss the book of the month. Our hope is to choose books that will ignite thoughts and discussion, encourage you to step outside of your reading comfort zone, and to host a meetup filled with great conversation, different perspectives and of course, great local beer!

***The Book of the Month is Avaialble for Purchase at Zandbroz, MENTION that it’s for Downtown Books & Brews and Receive 20% off your book! All attendees will receive Happy Hour Pricing @ Front Street Taproom from 7-9pm the night of the meetup!***

JANUARY BOOK OF THE MONTH: The High Divide by Lin Enger

In 1886, Gretta Pope wakes up one morning to discover that her husband is gone. Ulysses Pope has left his family behind on the far edge of Minnesota’s western prairie, with only a brief note and no explanation for why he left or where he’s heading. It doesn’t take long for Gretta’s young sons, Eli and Danny, to set off after him, leaving Gretta no choice but to search out the boys and their father and bring them all home. Enger’s breathtaking portrait of the vast plains landscape is matched by the rich expanse of the story’s emotional terrain, in which pivotal historical events coincide with the intimate story of a family’s sacrifice and devotion. “A deeply moving, gripping novel about one man’s quest for redemption and his family’s determination to learn the truth . . . Layered with meaning, this remarkable novel deserves to be read more than once.
