Downtown Books & Brews Book Club Meetup

Zandbroz Variety and Front Street Taproom are teaming up to bring you the coolest downtown Fargo book club you’ll ever encounter – Downtown Books & Brews. After all, books make you smarter and beer makes you cooler. Or, at least that’s what we like to tell ourselves. Join us on the mezzanine of Front Street on the last Thursday of every month at 7pm to discuss the book of the month. Our hope is to choose books that will ignite thoughts and discussion, encourage you to step outside of your reading comfort zone, and to host a meetup filled with great conversation, different perspectives and of course, great local beer!

***The Book of the Month is Avaialble for Purchase at Zandbroz, MENTION that it’s for Downtown Books & Brews and Receive 20% OFF!***

Zandbroz Variety is an independent book and gift store that has been making downtown fun since ‘91 with a broad mix of books, toys, stationary, bath & body, home décor and so (so) much more. Front Street Taproom opened its doors in October of ’16 and with a commitment to support local small business, has 30 tap lines dedicated to Minnesota and North Dakota brewed beer, kombucha and cider as well as local and regional wine, soda and munchies.

SEPTEMBER BOOK OF THE MONTH: The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls

The Glass Castle is a remarkable memoir of resilience and redemption, and a revelatory look into a family at once deeply dysfunctional and uniquely vibrant. When sober, Jeannette’s brilliant and charismatic father captured his children’s imagination, teaching them physics, geology, and how to embrace life fearlessly. But when he drank, he was dishonest and destructive. Her mother was a free spirit who abhorred the idea of domesticity and didn’t want the responsibility of raising a family.

The Walls children learned to take care of themselves. They fed, clothed, and protected one another, and eventually found their way to New York. Their parents followed them, choosing to be homeless even as their children prospered.

The Glass Castle is truly astonishing—a memoir permeated by the intense love of a peculiar but loyal family.

*OCTOBER BOOK OF THE MONTH: Heroes of the Frontier by Dave Eggers

Fulton Tap Takeover

We're excited to host our first Fulton Tap Takeover on August 31st from 5-8pm! Swing in after work for some great beer and conversation with brewery rep, Chad Swecker.

Featured brews:

72 Stretch - Gose Style Ale - Dry-hopped with lemon & lime zest and additions of Mediterranean Sea salt & coriander to the kettle create the classic Gose characteristics, resulting in a refreshing, citrus-forward ale with hints of melon & stone fruit.

Patience - Barleywine - In addition to malt, hops, water, and yeast, a fifth ingredient is required when crafting a barleywine: time. Enjoying barleywine calls for the same deliberation. So slow down and set the world aside. Sip, reflect, and repeat. Your patience has been rewarded.

Hopstar - Twice dry-hopped with Citra, Mosaic, and Amarillo, this Session IPA shines bright hop rays through a nebulous body of Maris Otter, Golden Promise, Golden Naked Oats, and white wheat.

+ a couple more!
